In this blog post I would like to take a look at a phrase often bandied around – ‘woo woo’ and offer some thoughts, useful ones I hope, probably with a little rant thrown in for good measure.
If I said what is ‘woo-woo’ stuff to you, I’d bet you would point to what is often referred to as content, ideas, and beliefs that emanate from what is dubbed the ‘new age movement.’ The term ‘new age movement’ is ironic, considering that much of the basis for what flows from that sector has been around for many thousands of years. Hardly new, but I digress.
Whether it is meditation, visualisation, manifestation or any number of subjects that lie in the spiritual or metaphysical realm, you will often find even the most avid proponent of those practices call them ‘woo woo’ and they usually accompany the phrase with air quotes. Why? If you believe something to be true, why reduce its power to a silly phrase and finger gestures? It bloody annoys me actually, but again, I’m getting side tracked here. I did warn you there may be some ranting.
So, back to the matter at hand and the question that titles this post:
What is and isn’t ‘woo woo’ really?
Well, before I reflect on some of the things I mentioned above, let me tell you what I consider to be woo woo and FAR more out there than anything the so called, ‘new age movement,’ can put in front of me.
What is woo woo and bat shit crazy to me is people not being encouraged to live the lives they want to lead but instead being led by the agenda of others.
What’s woo woo to me is an education system that does not respect or encourage individualism and creativity, but if anything punishes it and demands conformity in an effort to prepare you for the workforce.
What’s woo woo to me is a mass media machine that it would appear to exist for no other reason than to fill people with fear and polarise them against anything that is classed ‘different.’
What’s woo woo to me is people dragging themselves out of bed every morning to go to a place of work they despise, for 8 hours a day, sitting in a small cubicle watching the minutes slowly and painfully tick away, while watching the life they dreamed of slipping out of view.
What’s woo woo to me is living on a planet of abundance but with a huge proportion of our human race not having access to food, shelter, clean water and the basic, life-saving medicines that others take for granted.
What’s woo woo to me is watching the world repeat the same mistakes over and over again, expecting something different to happen because the powers that be say they will fix it for us.
What’s woo woo is silencing your own true voice, not being authentic and who you want to be, in an attempt to make others feel okay about themselves and the fact they accept the herd mentality.
What’s really woo-woo is allowing all the negativity and systems of control that are at play in the world convincing you to close your heart and mind to what the nature of our reality truly is and how we need to evolve as a species.
That, my friends, to me if perhaps not anyone else, is out there, lost the plot, one pie short of a picnic woo woo.
Give me messages of peace, hope, vision, self-power, creating your own reality and feeling at one with yourself and the world any day of the week over the other crap.
Here is a fact for you:
If you are not thinking for yourself, someone else is thinking FOR YOU.
You don’t want that. Take back control of your minds and your life and start thinking for yourselves.
Why do you believe what you currently do? If you dismiss things as silly, stupid, fantasy or crazy, ask yourself WHY?
Where did those beliefs come from? Are they even yours? Do you even know if they are TRUE?
Most importantly of all – DO THEY SERVE YOU?
It doesn’t really matter what is perceived right or wrong, what thoughts you may think are good or bad. The question is, does it serve you to think them?
Does having a belief that you aren’t good enough, smart enough, attractive enough, intelligent enough or any of the many limiting beliefs imprinted on you by others (the majority of the time without any malicious intention to do so) serve you?
If not, it may be time to take a look at how to fix that.
I’ve spent the best part of two years researching, studying, implementing and testing a multitude of ideas and concepts. Is there only one single approach or methodology that is the answer? Not that I have seen so far, if I find it, I’ll let you know.
There are many different ways to skin a cat as they say and so it is with your personal development and evolution.
When you dig deep into such areas, you will see that they all point towards the same thing, there are just many routes you can take to get there.
For a big part of my life, I lived with a ‘by me’ attitude. Meaning I made shit happen – lots of strategic focus and action.
I then had a period of living with a ‘through me’ attitude. Meaning I let shit happen – lots of focus via intuition and action.
Both work and BOTH require action. (No getting out of that I’m afraid. You MUST take action.)
Like most things in life, a balanced approach is best for long-term sustainability.
Take strategic, focused, intuition based action, in line with your authentic desires, and you really can’t go wrong.
PLEASE don’t dismiss anything as ‘woo-woo’ without at least taking a look for yourself with an open mind. There have been some serious studies and advancements in our understanding of how our minds function and how our reality is created in the world of neuroscience.
Much of what we thought we knew is now being proved false, and much of what was once considered fantasy is now scientific fact.
I’ll be revealing and reporting back on what I’ve found during my two-year journey, the conclusions I’ve drawn and how you can apply some of what I have learned to take your life to a whole new level very soon.
Until then, make your life an experiment and yourself the laboratory rat.
Go to work discovering the truth for yourself and leave no stone unturned.
You owe it to yourself.
